Nokia N97 V20, Bukan Sekedar Updater
Nokia N97 V20 adalah sebutan populer untuk Nokia N97 Firmware 2,0 atau Updater Versi 20. Meskipun sebenarnya fungsi software ini lebih dari update kinerja Nokia N97, tetapi juga “menambal” kekurangan-kekurangannya saat dia dirilis dulu agar mampu berfungsi secara optimal untuk “menjalankan” aplikasi-aplikasi terbaru.
Sedangkan penyebab lain dari penurunan kinerja Nokia N97 bisa terjadi akibat seringnya salah pengoperasian atau terinfeksi virus. Karena itu software adapter Nokia N97 V20 hanya bisa digunakan untuk satu model dan satu versi saja, tidak bisa digeneralisir seperti halnya software lainnya. Usai diupdate Firmware V20, pengoperasian N97 akan terasa berbeda. Bukan saja pengoperasiannya menjadi lebih stabil, tetapi juga terdapat beberapa tambahan fitur baru seperti kinetic scrolling yang halus. Sementara
beberapa aplikasi yang didesain ulang oleh V20 ini antara lain pemutar musik yang kini cukup menyentuh albumart untuk memunculkan pengatur volume. Aplikasi Nokia maps dari Ovi mendapatkan porsi peningkatan signifikan dari Updater V20 dengan tampilan 3D maps yang semakin mempermudah bantuan navigasi selama perjalanan.
Akses Nokia Email, Ovi Contacts dan Ovi Store semakin ringkas dan mudah berkat improvisasi fitur gulir pada layar sentuh yang luas sehingga pengguna bisa leluasa membaca email, mencari nomor kontak dan memilih aplikasi untuk di-download dari Ovi Store. Kamera 5 megapiksel dengan lensa Carl Zeiss pun mendapat improvisasi tambahan dari Updater V20 dengan jaminan kestabilan saat pengambilan gambar serta video.
Tidak hanya itu, Updater V20 juga meningkatkan kemampuan memori dan baterai, serta kecepatan prosesor meningkat secara substansial. Nokia telah melakukan pembenahan yang baik melalui Updater V20 sehingga membuat Nokia N97 terasa seperti perangkat baru.
Proses update Nokia N97 dengan Firmware V20 pada prinsipnya adalah pemulihan dan penambahan terhadap seluruh perangkat lunak N97, yang tentu saja mengandung konsekuensi ikut terhapusnya data-data yang tersimpan. Meskipun kemungkinan tersebut telah diantisipasi dengan kompabilitas Nokia N97 terhadap sistem UDP (User Data Preservation) yang tidak menghapus data di ponsel saat melakukan update, sangat dianjurkan untuk tetap melakukan back up data sebelum melakukan update.
Hal-hal lain yang juga perlu diperhatikan pada saat melakukan update dengan software V20 ini adalah memastikan koneksi internet tidak akan mengalami gangguan pada saat dilakukan proses update. Hal yang sama pentingnya adalah cek baterei Nokia N97 dalam keadaan penuh, agar proses update dengan software V20 tak terputus gara-gara kehabisan daya.
Ketika proses updating berakhir, tunggu beberapa saat untuk memastikan bahwa proses tersebut telah benar-benar sebelum mematikan handphone atau memindahkan ke fitur yang lain.
